Sharon Murphy, 78, of Wall Township, NJ, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 after a brief illness. Sharon was born in Orange, NJ, grew up in Spring Lake, and was a resident of Wall. She attended Calvary Lighthouse Church in Lakewood, NJ. Sharon attended H.W. Mountz Grammar School and was a graduate of Manasquan High School. Sharon met the love of her life John J. Murphy at Pat’s Diner, Belmar. Sharon was a lifetime member and Captain of the Wall Community First Aid Squad. She loved cooking and trips to Dunkin (DD). Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, having “Mama dates” with each of her grandchildren. Sharon was witty and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Edna Mohr, and her brother Chuckie Mohr.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 58 years John J. Murphy, 5 children, Michelle McNicholas and her husband Paul, John C. Murphy and his wife Sharon O., Kathleen VanBenthuysen and her husband Derek, David Murphy and his wife Raquel, Stephen Murphy, 13 grandchildren, Kelly, Erin, Sean, Davey, Brandon, Ryan, Abigail, Brooke, Matt, Johnny, Brianna, Luke and Andrew. She also leaves her siblings, Barry Mohr, Jon Mohr, and Susan Mohr.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 2-6pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 16, 2023, 10am at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan, NJ.
