Charles Victor Latendorf (aka ‘Foxy’) passed away on October 8, 2023. Also known as Chad to his many friends and family, he was born April 9, 1942. Chad attended Fork Union Military Academy, where he was captain of the basketball team and the baseball team.
He was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, Parachute badge, and achieved an Expert rating (rifle M-14). He started working for his father in a family owned business and grew that business over the years, then happily retired.
Chad is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marian (Birdsall), and their three children and their families: Susan and John Tuck, Mike and Sarra Latendorf, Kristie and Ricky Rutyna. Chad adored their eight grandchildren: James, Charles, Maggie, Elizabeth, Danny, Tommy, Christopher, and Maddie. Marian and Chad were ardent supporters at every athletic event and competition, and rarely missed a game.
Chad is also survived by his sister-in-law and her husband, Peggy and Kevin Cadigan, his brother-in-law Arthur Birdsall, his niece Kelly Birdsall Griffiths and her daughter Kitty, and his nephew Ryan Birdsall Sharpe and wife Jessica and their children, Jack and Molly.
Everyone who knew Chad felt his big heart and giving nature. He was a proud resident of Point Pleasant Beach for many years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Viewing will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ. A celebration of his life will be held next April, to observe what would have been his 82nd birthday.
