State police on Saturday released new details about a single vehicle crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike that killed a 22-year-old Lititz man and injured a 20-year-old Lancaster County woman that morning.
The driver of the car – 20-year-old Natasha Hoover, of Stevens, Pennsylvania – lost control of the car around 9:02 a.m. during “steady moderate rainfall” while in South Londonderry Township, about two miles west of Exit 266 for Lebanon Lancaster, state police say.
After losing control, the car struck a roadside embankment and overturned, causing the front seat passenger – Bryce Nolt, 22, of Lititz – to be thrown through the sunroof and thrown onto the road between the two westbound lanes, police say.
State police say Nolt was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but listed that Hoover was.
The Lebanon County Coroner’s Office pronounced Nolt dead at the scene. Hoover was taken to Hershey Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a police report.
Mt. Gretna Community Volunteer Fire Company, Mastersonville Volunteer Fire Company and Northwest EMS assisted Pennsylvania State Police Troop L and Troop T with the crash.
The crash closed more than 20 miles of westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike lanes for multiple hours.
