Jeanne A. Wellinghorst, age 99, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her home in Brielle. Jeanne was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She met the love of her life, Frank Wellinghorst, when the two worked together at Babcock and Wilcox and were married in 1948. They lived on Long Island for a few years before moving to New Jersey where they settled into Spring Lake and then finally Brielle where she has resided for the last 50 years.
Mrs. Wellinghorst worked as a School Aide for many years in Wall Township.
Jeanne was a communicant of St. Denis RC Church in Manasquan. She was an avid reader and loved shopping. She enjoyed people and was known to talk to everyone she met. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Francis Wellinghorst in 1980; her granddaughter, Maggie Messick and her great-granddaughter, Sammi Truszkiewicz.
Surviving are her loving children, Frank Wellinghorst and his former wife, Jennifer, Stephen Wellinghorst and his wife, Liz, Mary Messick and her husband, David, Janet DePeri and her husband, Michael and Peggy (Margaret) Wellinghorst; her cherished grandchildren, Blake, Megen, Isabella and Mariel Wellinghorst, Katie Messick, Cassandra Schwartz, Heather Walters, Michael DePeri, Jr. and Matthew DePeri; her great-grandchildren, Hopie, Niko and Mikey DePeri, Jonathan, Jordan and Alessandra Joy Schwartz, Micaela Philhower.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, September 25th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Denis RC Church, Manasquan followed by the interment at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
