Books on Tap, Phoenixville Public Library’s book discussion group for 20- and 30-something adults, will meet next on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 PM, at Great American Pub, 148 Bridge St., Phoenixville. The group will discuss “In the Woods,” the bestselling debut novel by Tana French. After a 12-year-old Irish lad and his two pals fail to return from a day in the woods, searchers find only the terrified sixth grader — with blood-filled shoes and no memory of what happened. Book Discussion
Fourth Wednesday Readers, Phoenixville Public Library’s in-person book discussion group for adults of all ages, will meet at the Library on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 1 PM. The group will discuss the award-winning, bestselling novel, “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus. In 1960s California, scientist Elizabeth Zott became the host of America’s most loved cooking show, in spite of the mores of the time trying to keep women’s place in the home. But Zott is no “average woman.” Hilarious and idiosyncratic, her story is uplifting. Even her run-in with her super-star colleague, Calvin Evans, holds surprises. Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Get the Most Out of Your Sleep: Tools to a More Restful and Rejuvenating Sleep,” on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 6:45 PM. September is “Save Your Photos Month”. Phoenixville Public Library will host a free Zoom presentation, “Save Your Photos – Digital, Print & Video,” on Friday, Sept. 29, from 1-2 PM. Certified Photo Organizer Darla DeMorrow will be the presenter. Your family photos are part of the traditions and memories that future generations will treasure. Are you prepared to hand them down for others to enjoy? Do you worry about protecting photos from fire, floods, natural disasters and accidental loss? All of us have printed photos, slides, films, and keepsakes to pass to the next generation … but if our kids love digital, will they toss the prints? Turn your best photos into a curated treasured collection of meaningful stories. Learn the essentials of backup and sync for digital photos. Learn what “the Cloud” really is, and how it can take you and your memories from overwhelmed to organized. We’ll discuss how to break down a big photo mess into organized steps. Painting class
Phoenixville Public Library will host a step-by-step acrylic painting class for adults on Monday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. Geraldine Guzman of the Morgantown Arts & Holistic Center will lead the class. Participants will paint on a 16″ x 20″ canvas. Please wear paint clothing or bring an apron. Cost is $20.00 per person, payable at the door. Fair Districts PA
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Redistricting Reform – Getting There in Time for 2031!”, on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 6:45 PM. Rich Rafferty of Fair Districts PA will be the speaker. Join us for this public education program on reforming Pennsylvania’s redistricting process. Rafferty will explain Pennsylvania’s current redistricting process, demonstrate how it has undermined democracy, and then offer a solution to the problem. Rich will also discuss the legislation and roadblocks in Harrisburg and FDPA’s strategy going forward. Fair Districts PA is a non-partisan coalition of citizens and organizations seeking to reform Pennsylvania’s redistricting rules by ensuring that the process is impartial, transparent, and accountable.
