I painted the walls in my boy’s room green two years ago, and his room has been slowly inching along since then. Even though he’s in college now, this will always be his room. And he’s given me full reign with regard to the design. But I’ve been dragging my feet a little bit. It took me a good long while to decide what I wanted to do for the windows, but I finally hung some gorgeous velvet curtain panels. And they’ve completely brought the room to life!

Love them so much!
I also brought in a vintage lamp and a chair I scored at the Goodwill, but it’s these curtain panels that have really made the room feel so much more polished and cozy. Even with no art (which is what I normally feel brings a room to life), this room feels so inviting now. It’s not surprising, and yet I’m completely surprised at just how much of a difference the curtains made.
They were definitely the missing ingredient as they’ve made such a huge impact in the space! I opted for the color cashmer, which is a warm beige, to play off the beige tones in the rug. And I love the way this color looks against these SW Tradd Street Green walls!
Hanging the panels high (just under the crown) and wide made the room feel grand and spacious, but the soft velvet material adds a luxe, cozy vibe. It’s why I opted for velvet over linen. I dig the cozy yet chic vibe velvet adds to a space. And I went with a pinch pleat to add a little bit of formality to this mostly casual room. I love a good mix, especially in a masculine space. For me, it’s the softer, somewhat formal details that keep a masculine space from feeling cold.
Speaking of hanging these panels, the adjustable drapery pins that came with these Two Pages curtains are a straight-up game-changer. They made installation an absolute breeze! I’ll never hang curtains without them again!
Would you believe me if I told you these brass french return curtain rods are from Walmart?! I wanted a warm brass tone to compliment the vintage brass trunk being used as a nightstand, and these rods were the perfect color! The quality for the price can’t be beaten, and I love how the brass looks against these green walls.
Hanging these velvet curtains has really inspired me! Now I can’t wait to finish styling my boy’s bedroom.
This view from the hallway is making me so happy.
