Mary was Classic as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Born a New Englander in September of 1925 she was to become a Jersey Shore Girl in her future. Raised and schooled in Holyoke, Mass., she would subsequently roller skate and dance her way into the heart of a WWII USAAF serviceman, Spencer Heulitt. 73 years of marriage followed with homes being made in Belmar, Spring Lake, and finally Spring Lake Heights, where she peacefully passed away on Sept. 5. Mary’s strength was demonstrated when she disregarded her own health issues to care for husband Spencer during his last years when he died at age 94 in 2020.
As a Jersey Shore Girl, Mary most enjoyed the boardwalk, beach, and ocean. There was also bowling, golf and Rummikub to spend time with cherished friends. Her lifetime included work as a phone operator, an office manager for Longstreet Real Estate Agency, Sea Girt, and later for Johnson & Johnson Agency, Spring Lake.
Mary was a remarkable visual beauty that many commented upon, but it was her modest nature with purity of mind and spirit that gave her a special shine. Among drinkers and smokers she would abstain yet always bring the fun to parties and family gatherings. Mary believed that ups and downs were part of living and she took whatever came in stride with gratitude towards the good. Family, friends, neighbors and almost everything that had a life were her joys. It would be hard to find someone less mean and more kind than Mary. In many ways Mary expressed how blessed her life was when actually it was her life that was a blessing to this world.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Mary Brown, sister Dorothy Rudolph, husband Spencer Heulitt Sr., daughter Dorothy Schwarz.
Surviving are her son Spencer Heulitt Jr.(Karen), grandchildren Jennifer Webber, Bobby Schwarz, Kyle Heulitt (Erin), Justin Heulitt (Steve), Jessica Hendershot (Chris), great grandchildren, Nena, Maddy, Cole, son-in- law Robert Schwarz, nephews Richard Rudolph (Janet), Steve Zilavetz (Dorian).
