Thomas Sabo, 88 of Manasquan, passed away Saturday, August 26th at JSUMC, Neptune. Tom was the son of Thomas and Beatrice Sabo. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy, his daughter, Connie Rae Sabo, and his brother and sister in law , Elmer (Phillies fan) and Nancy Sabo.
He served in the US Army in Germany for two and a half years. He graduated from Kutztown University and went on to use his Biology degree to teach at Freehold Regional High School for 25 years, and even had Bruce Springsteen in his class. He enjoyed sharing his love for learning with others. He will be remembered as an avid reader with a keen intellect and quick wit. He could usually be found with a crossword puzzle in his hand and a joke, riddle, prank, or puzzle ready at a moment’s notice. Self taught, he could fix anything you threw his way. And if you wanted to know where the best deals were at the local grocery stores, you could ask him. He was the first person on the block when there were only dirt roads and he has enjoyed the friendship, love, and support of all the neighbors in the area over the decades he has lived in his home.
He spent much time traveling during his retirement with family and friends. Tom was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Manasquan for over 55 years and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held and on live stream at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 Osborn Ave, Manasquan, on Friday, September 1st at 11:00 AM. Special thanks to Dave and Zack at Jersey Shore Cremation Service for their kind care of our family. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Manasquanfoodpantry.org.
