Donald J. Spaziano, Sr., age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
He was born on April 10, 1932 in Paterson, NJ. He moved to Point Pleasant, NJ at the age of 12. After graduating Point Pleasant Beach High School, he served in the Army based in Fort Riley, Kansas and after his honorable discharge began his career working for the government at Lakehurst Naval Air Station, retiring as Superintendent of Public Works. He married his beautiful wife of over sixty years, Patricia, in 1956 and they built their home in Point Pleasant Beach where they raised their two children. He was a lifetime member of the Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company No. 2, having served for fifty-eight years as a volunteer firefighter, officer, fire police, and as a trustee, a position he held until recently.
He was an exceptional carpenter who not only built our family house but renovated many others. He was so skilled he could build or repair just about anything, which kept him very busy during his retirement. He loved boating, riding his motorcycle, taking trips in his RV, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid dog lover who would never miss an opportunity to play with any dog he encountered. He adored spending time with his grandson, Michael.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Meany Spaziano and his parents, Joseph and Emma Spaziano. He is survived by his son Donald Spaziano, Jr. of Point Pleasant, his daughter Lisa Rosati of Shamong, NJ, son-in-law, Christopher Rosati and his beloved grandson, Michael Rosati. He is also survived by his cousin, Peter Spaziano and his wife Laura of West Palm Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, August 31 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
Interment with military honors will take place 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 6 at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
