Friday, August 18, 2023 – New Jersey Festival Orchestra “Summertime Folk Fantasies”. Sunday, August 20, 2023 – NJ Festival Orchestra to Present Outdoor Concert in Westfield on August 20. (WESTFIELD, NJ) — The New Jersey Festival Orchestra is back on Sunday, August 20, 2023 with another outdoor concert in Westfield featuring music by Gershwin and Delius, and songs by Aaron Copland performed by NY Metropolitan Opera’s renowned baritone Stephen Gaertner.

Tuesday, August 15, 2023 – Robert Jones, Jr. to Discuss “The Prophets” in Ocean County Library’s Virtual Author Talk Series. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) — Join best-selling author Robert Jones, Jr., for an in-depth look at his award-winning debut novel The Prophets in the Ocean County Library’s Virtual Author Talk series on Tuesday, August 15. The event begins at 4:00pm.

Wednesday, August 16, 2023 – Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band to Play Shows in Philly and NJ. (EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ) — Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have announced additional North American dates on their 2023 international tour in 18 cities, with newly-added shows beginning at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on August 9 and running through December 8 at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Multiple nights have been scheduled for Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park (August 16 and 18), New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium (August 30 and September 1), Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena (November 14 and 16) and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum (December 4 and 6).

Wednesday, August 16, 2023 – Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Tinsley Ellis. (TUCKERTON, NJ) — Acclaimed Georgia blues rocker, singer and songwriter Tinsley Ellis will give a rare live acoustic performance at The Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 7:30pm. On his newly launched coast-to-coast tour entitled Tinsley Ellis – Acoustic Songs & Stories, Ellis plans to perform many of his most popular songs, plus Delta blues covers and classics by artists like Gregg Allman, Bob Dylan and Leo Kottke, on his 1937 National Steel and 1969 Martin D-35 guitars. Ellis weaves the music together with interesting, engaging and humorous stories from his over 40 years spent on stage, in motels and truck stops. Ellis’ most recent Alligator Records release and 20th album is 2022’s Devil May Care.

Thursday, August 17, 2023 – Slightly Stoopid and Sublime With Rome tour comes to Holmdel and Camden. San Diego, CA-based Slightly Stoopid and Sublime With Rome announced the first round of dates for their Summertime 2023 tour. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will hit outdoor amphitheaters and select festivals across the country. Joining Slightly Stoopid and Sublime With Rome are special guests Atmosphere and The Movement. Locally, the tour comes to the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on Thursday, August 17th and the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden on Sunday, August 20th.

Thursday, August 17, 2023 – Lizzie Rose Music Room presents The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. (TUCKERTON, NJ) — The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 7:30pm. The band has built its reputation the long, slow, hard way. After 12 years of playing as many as 300 shows each year, Rev. Peyton, the world’s foremost country blues finger-style picker, along with the biggest little band in the country has pieced together one of the most dedicated followings out there.

Thursday, August 17, 2023 – The Theater Project presents “Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating, and Marriage!”. (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) — Dr. Ruth Meets Emily Post: With help from her assistant Paco and a few cooperative audience volunteers, Miss Abigail demonstrates flirtation techniques from 1940s and 50s how-to-find-romance handbooks to prove that “love can’t be bought — but it can be taught!” in Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating, and Marriage! The Theater Project presents this play by Ken Davenport & Sarah Saltzberg from August 17-27, 2023 in Maplewood, NJ.

Thursday, August 17, 2023 – Axelrod Performing Arts Center presents the Laurel Canyon Band. (DEAL PARK, NJ) — Axelrod Performing Arts Center presents the Laurel Canyon Band on Thursday, August 17 at 8:00pm. The Laurel Canyon Band is an acoustic tribute to the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, featuring recreations of their seminal works as well as songs from their early bands and their solo years.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – The Newton Theatre presents Tinsley Ellis with Dana Fuchs Band. (NEWTON, NJ) — The Newton Theatre presents Tinsley Ellis with Dana Fuchs Band on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 8:00pm. Tickets range from $39-$49.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – Jersey City Theater Center, Healthier Jersey City and Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival present “Lovefool”. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) — Jersey City Theater Center, in partnership with Healthier Jersey City and Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival is proud to present Lovefool, created by Michael John Ciszewski with Brian Dudley. Lovefool will premiere at Jersey City will premiere at Jersey City Theater Center on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 7:00pm. Tickets start at just $15 and are available at www.JCTCenter.org.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – The New Jersey Fringe Festival to Take Place August 18-20. (HAMMONTON, NJ) — Summer is here and the New Jersey Fringe Festival is near! The 3-day outdoor marathon event features live theater performance, music, art vendors, food, craft brews and wine, plus outdoor yoga for the whole family. The event runs August 18th-20th and celebrates creativity and artistic expression, bringing together talented artists and performers from the region to showcase their work in multiple hand-picked venues throughout Downtown Hammonton.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – Roxey Ballet’s 2nd Annual River Dance Festival takes place August 18-20. (NEW HOPE, PA) — Roxey Ballet will host the second annual River Dance Festival on August 18-20, 2023 at Mill Ballet in New Hope, PA featuring more than 20 choreographers and 80 dancers from across the nation. The mission of the festival is to give artists a platform to present their work showcasing a variety of talent featuring BIPOC artists and select works based on social justice.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – Professor Louie & The Crowmatix with The Woodstock Horns present “The Music Of The Band” in Tuckerton. (TUCKERTON, NJ) — On Friday, August 18, 2023, Professor Louie & The Crowmatix with The Woodstock Horns will present “The Music of The Band” at the Lizzie Rose Music Room. For this special show, they will perform songs from repertoire of The Band, learned directly from The Band and songs Louie created with The Band including their comeback hit “Atlantic City,” he collaborated with The Band for over fifteen years. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – Operallora to Present Puccini Double Bill at Kelsey Theatre. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) — Mercer County Community College’s Kelsey Theatre and Operallora has announced a double bill of Puccini’s Il Tabarro and Suor Angelica, to be presented August 18 and August 20 in West Windsor.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – Busy Weekend For The Wag, With Shows Across The State. Fans of The Wag have four chances to see them this weekend with shows in Atlantic Highlands, Wharton Borough, Edison, and Red Bank. This is a great opportunity to see the band play songs from their latest album, Blue Bottles and Copper Coins, or catch them with their popular tribute to The Beatles.

Saturday, August 19, 2023 – Ocean Casino Resort presents Matt Rife on August 19th. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) — Comedian and actor, Matt Rife, takes the stage at Ocean Casino Resort’s Ovation Hall on Saturday, August 19. Matt is best known for guest roles on the sketch comedy and improv game show series Wild ‘n Out, as Brandon Bliss on the comedy television series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and as Logan on the sitcom television series Fresh Off the Boat. Showtime is 7:00pm.

Saturday, August 19, 2023 – Violinist to Bring “The Judy Kang Experience” to NY and NJ this summer. (PRINCETON, NJ) — Canadian-born violinist and worldwide phenom Judy Kang will be playing with ‘The Judy Kang Experience’ at festivals and shows across New York and New Jersey this summer, including a performance in Princeton on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Kang will be accompanied by Dan Kassel on cello and Jake Valois on drums and guitar. The performances will include music from Lady Gaga to Metallica and feature Kang’s innovative cutting-edge style redefining expectations of a violin in concert.

Saturday, August 19, 2023 – Jersey Shorts Showcase to Take Place at Smodcastle Cinemas. (ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) — The Jersey Short Showcase takes place on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Smodcastle Cinemas. The event showcases the best short films from talented local filmmakers. The event runs from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

Saturday, August 19, 2023 – Eddie Bruce to celebrate the Music of Anthony Newley at Gateway Playhouse. (SOMERS POINT, NJ) — On Saturday, August 19, 2023, acclaimed cabaret singer and bandleader Eddie Bruce will celebrate the music of Anthony Newley at the Gateway Playhouse. The show includes songs from Broadway to Willie Wonka. Tickets are $45. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Saturday, August 19, 2023 – 2023 Collingswood Crafts and Fine Art Festival. Sunday, August 20, 2023 – Playwright, Critic and New York Times Editor to Have Reading at Princeton Public Library on August 20th. (PRINCETON, NJ) — “Small Town Sins,” the debut novel by New York Times editor and playwright Ken Jaworowski, was published by Henry Holt & Co. on August 1st. The Princeton Public Library will host a reading with the Princeton Junction based author on Sunday, August 20.

Sunday, August 20, 2023 – bergenPAC presents Ginuwine. (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) — Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) presents R&B 90’s sensation Ginuwine, known for his smash hit “Pony” and chart-topper “Anxious,” on Sunday, August 20th at 8:00pm.

Sunday, August 20, 2023 – Black Flag Brings US Tour to Sherman Theater. (STROUDSBURG, PA) — One of the most ground-breaking and iconic hardcore punk bands of all time, Black Flag, have announced that they’ll be hitting the road for their My War Tour 2023, stopping at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA on Sunday, August 20, 2023. They will perform the My War album in full for their first set and The Best Of in the second set. Doors are at 6:00pm, showtime is 7:00pm.

Sunday, August 20, 2023 – Newark to Hold Annual Latin Festival on Sunday. (NEWARK, NJ) — Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Deputy Mayor for Community Engagement Jacqueline Quiles, and the Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery (OVPTR) will host the Annual Latin Festival on Sunday, August 20, from noon to 10:00pm, on Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and Clifton Avenue, in Newark’s North Ward. This year’s event is being presented as an opportunity for citywide anti-violence organizations to raise awareness for domestic violence prevention, with speakers sharing personal stories of transformation from the stage.
