Joseph W. Piech (Joe) passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 after a brief battle with a rare blood cancer. He was 82 years old.
Joe was born August 22, 1940 in Camden, New Jersey, to the late Joseph Piech and the late Emma Piech (née Mears).
Beloved husband to his high school sweetheart, Patricia (née Whittick) for almost 60 years. Loving father to Patricia Piech Nolan (Hugh) and Jennifer Piech Pasbjerg (Carl). Cherished Peepa to Elizabeth R. Nolan (Ian Habit), Shawn J. Nolan, Allison P. Pasbjerg, and CJ Pasbjerg. Joe is also survived by his dear brothers Frank Piech (Eleanor) and George ‘Sonny’ Piech (Jan), and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a self-made man from humble beginnings, the oldest boy of seven children. He helped his family by working any odd jobs he could find from an early age. His father died when he was 12 years old. His work ethic and desire to care for his family continued to drive him forward throughout his life. He was the first in his family to go to college – proud Rider College (University) graduate – majoring in Business. He worked for IBM for over 35 years, first as an assistant in the marketing dept., and then for many years in Human Resources in Dayton (Princeton), Philadelphia, PA and for a few years in Atlanta, GA. Upon retirement, he consulted for Lockheed Martin and a few other businesses. He was a very active member in the Cinnaminson community, with the local Rotary Club, and especially his beloved Asbury United Methodist Church, where he was instrumental in overseeing the building expansion, serving on the Finance Committee, working the Easter Egg program and wherever else he was needed. He was an amazing, generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, a true friend and an honorable man.
Joe’s celebration of life will be on Saturday August 19, 2023 at Asbury United Methodist Church at 2492 Andover Road, Cinnaminson, NJ, 08077. Visitation will be from 9:30-11am, Funeral service will begin at 11 am, with graveside burial service to follow in the church’s private cemetery. The family will be there to welcome relatives and friends.
