Gilead Sciences opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Parsippany-Troy Hills on Thursday to serve as the company’s East Coast hub. The new site sets the stage for Gilead’s continued transformation as it strives to deliver 10-plus transformative medicines by 2030.
The 96,000-square-foot office will be home to a team of up to 500 employees spanning corporate affairs, medical affairs, regulatory affairs, operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, commercial and general administrative functions. This is one of Gilead’s largest investments in a physical U.S. site outside of the company’s Foster City, California, headquarters and manufacturing facilities, representing a deepened commitment to the East Coast.
“As we celebrated the grand opening of Gilead’s new Parsippany site today, I was struck by the many attributes that make this an important and special place for the hundreds of colleagues who will call this their new workplace,” Jill Massey, vice president, global medical strategy and operations at Gilead Sciences, and New Jersey site lead, said.
Gilead’s current pipeline and portfolio of medicines covers new or potential treatments for HIV, hepatitis, COVID-19, multiple types of cancer, inflammatory diseases and many more.
Gilead said its East Coast hub will include spaces for innovation to thrive. The office includes a variety of spaces designed for different ways of working, from conference rooms, a community hub and other collaborative areas to quiet, closed-door rooms for individual focused work.
Every conference room is dedicated to a person whose life has been impacted by a Gilead medicine, serving as an important reminder of the purpose that drives the company’s work.
Amenities for employees’ well-being are also top priority. The hub includes amenities to help Gilead employees bond and nourish their whole selves at work, whether it be at the onsite café, fitness center, pickleball court, yoga/Pilates room or other wellness feature incorporated at the campus.
Moreover, Gilead also prioritized sustainability by including the latest green building practices at the site.
“Located in the epicenter of biopharma innovation, this marks a continuation of Gilead’s transformation strategy as we deliver innovative medicines to address life-threatening conditions and attract the brightest talent to help us achieve this ambition,” Massey added.
On Thursday, Gilead also announced its partnership in the Parsippany community with a $250,000 grant to Students 2 Science, a local organization helping to foster a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce through hands-on STEM experiences. The grant will help expand Students 2 Science programs, making them accessible to 1,650 underserved students from Morris County school districts.
