PHILADELPHIA — Fearful of their lack of readiness at the linebacker position, the Eagles signed veterans Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham to one-year contracts Sunday.
“We are a little bit low at that position as far as the amount of guys,” Nick Sirianni said. “We really do feel good about the room. We just want to bring in some extra competition and let things shake out.”
Jack (6-1, 244) was a playmaker in his first four years with the Jaguars, who took him off the board in the second round of the 2016 draft. The 27-year-old product of UCLA averaged 110 tackles the past three seasons with the Steelers.
The 28-year-old Cunningham is a 2017 second-round selection of the Texans who after a 164-tackle effort during the COVID season found himself in a reduced role with the Titans. A nagging elbow injury in 2022 limited Cunningham (6-2, 238) to six games.
The Eagles let starting linebackers TJ Edwards and Kyzir White walk in free agency. The Eagles only wish Nicholas Morrow and Christian Ellis were as good as the ridiculous news reports. Projected starter Nakobe Dean is nursing an ankle injury. Linebacker Davion Taylor and wide receiver Charleston Rambo (waived-injured) were cut to make room for the new guys.
“When you bring in good players, like these two guys have been that’s only going to raise the level of everybody else in the room,” Sirianni said. “But shoot, I feel pretty good about the room.”

Echoing the organization, Sirianni is comfortable giving offensive lineman Josh Sills a shot to work in with the unit.
A jury in Ohio acquitted Sills this week of felony rape and kidnapping charges. Sills was found not guilty of restraining a woman in his truck and forcing her into performing oral sex on him in 2019.
The trial took place at the Guernsey County Courtroom. Sills, who went to college at West Virginia and Oklahoma State, made the Eagles’ roster last season and saw action in one game.
“Obviously we never took the charge lightly,” Sirianni said. “We let the legal process play out. My experience with Josh has been nothing but positive. He’s been a great teammate. He’s done his job and guys love him on this team so my experience with him has been great, and we’re glad to have him back.”
The Eagles are looking for a low-cost option at guard to fill the void left by Isaac Seumalo, who exited in free agency to Pittsburgh. Sirianni likes what he’s seen of converted center Cam Jurgens. The 25-year-old Sills (6-6, 325) has worked at guard and tackle.

He exited under supervision. … The Eagles also signed journeyman guard Josh Andrews.
