Pittsburgh Neighborhoods left cleaning up after Thursday’s storm
A tree came down in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood on Friday morning, damaging a car.The tree fell on the 700 block of Norwich Avenue. It followed a night of storms on Thursday that brought several trees down in other parts of the Pittsburgh region.”It was intense,” said Brookline neighbor Tiffany Prince. She added, “It felt like a little bit of a hurricane. I’ve been through hurricanes and the winds were whipping up and you’re looking at the water coming down the road, it looked like a river.”No injuries were reported in the Brookline incident. Crews responded to a similar incident in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood Thursday night. No one was injured when a few trees came toppling down on Gross Street near Friendship Avenue in Bloomfield. “It was crazy,” said Bill Wolf, who lives just down the road. Crews responded quickly and were able to get the debris out of the roadway. On Friday morning, some of the damage remained in the yard of the Western PA School of Nursing and along Gross St. “Oh it was terrible, it sounded like a train going up the street. It was just nuts and then a bus came up and what what was it going to do? It eventually backed down the road. So it was crazy. There was a lot going on.”
