Joseph E. Colon, 76, formerly of Point Pleasant, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 after a long illness.
Born in Puerto Rico to the late Jose and Maria Colon, Joe lived there before arriving in New Jersey with his family in 1962. He resided in Paterson, graduating from Saint John’s High School, before settling in Point Pleasant to raise his family with his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Joann.
He was blessed to spend sixty happy years with Joann, his high school sweetheart, raising a family, and building a life. He loved spending time with his family, his work, and life on the water.
Joe had a long career in grocery management before owning and operating his own produce store in Point Pleasant for many years. Later in life, he turned his love of boats into a successful career in boat sales.
Joe was an avid fisherman and boat captain, and was always happy to be out on the water or sharing a fish story. He was a long-time member of the Point Pleasant Borough Rotary and was a Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow.
In addition to his beloved wife, Joann, he is survived by his two daughters, Niccole Lucich and her husband, Michael of Point Pleasant, and Tara Williams and her husband, Lawrence of Denver, CO; and his five adored grandchildren, Jared, Ryder, Caden, Elle, and Alton. He is also survived by his brother, Louis Colon and his wife, Susan of Point Pleasant; sister, Ivonne Kratz and her husband, Charles of West Caldwell; his nephews, Timothy and Louis; and his niece, Jessica.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., Monday, July 17 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
