Mary J. Keaney (née Boyle), 89, of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday June 16, 2023, with her loving family by her side at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. She was born and raised in Newark, NJ where she graduated from Central High School, Newark. Mary also graduated from Essex County Community College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Aerotek Inc., Verona, NJ, and Bennet Heat Treating, Newark, NJ. Mary was a communicant and a Eucharistic Minister for St. Dominic Church, Brick, NJ, and also a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus, East Orange, NJ. She was a longtime and active member of the Women of Irish Heritage of the Jersey Shore, and past president. Mary was named Deputy Grand Marshal of the West Orange St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 1999, and also named Deputy Grand Marshall of the Belmar, NJ, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 2014. Mary was also a past treasurer of Greenbriar 1 Association, Brick, NJ.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Michael and Helen Boyle, her first husband Charles Crerand, her second husband Joseph Keaney, her grandparents James Joseph and Mary Harrison, all her brothers, William, John, James, and Owen Boyle. She is survived by her loving children Michael and Maureen Crerand, Chuck Crerand, Martin and Donna Crerand, and Paul and Tina Crerand. Mary was the cherished grandmother to Charles and Joanna Crerand, Courtney Crerand, Richard Crerand, Molly Crerand, and Emily Crerand, as well as great grandmother to Carter Crerand. Mary is also survived by a sister Dorothy Linger of Savannah, GA., and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday June 20, 2023, from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at St. Dominic’s Church, 250 Old Squan Road Brick, NJ 08724. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
