Patricia Christa Murphy was a resident of Bay Head, NJ with her husband Bernard.
Patricia was a post- war-torn refugee from Germany born in Ladenburg, Germany to Christa Eckert, a then unmarried interpreter working for the US Army, on February 23rd, 1953, in the Allied Sector of post war Germany. She has a half-sister, Erika Hecken in Germany. She also has a dear friend in Bay Head, Peggy Morrissey; they refer to each other as ‘sisters’.
She was adopted in June of 1953 by US Army Sgt. Charles White and his wife Mildred in Heidelberg, Germany and naturalized as a US citizen in 1955. Patricia has been a proud US patriot ever since.
After previous marriages she married Bernard J. Murphy in 2004 at All Saints Church in Bay Head. Since then, her stepchildren, Kellie Murphy Sobocinski, Tina Murphy and Daniel Murphy have had 6 grandchildren, Owen and Aiden Sobocinski, Leah and Hannah Mitchell and Virginia and Patrick Murphy.
Patricia was a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in New York City. She became, in the 1990’s, the primary Gemologist for Smyth Jewelers in Baltimore MD.
‘Nonni’ as she is known to her Grandchildren, was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was an animal lover and volunteered her services to Animal Shelters and rescue services. She formed what is now known as the ‘Parkers’, a group of 10-14 dog owners who regularly get together and exercise and associate with like-minded dog lovers.
