Edythe P. Buchter, 92, of Wall, NJ, formerly of Spring Lake, NJ, Hamden, CT, and Greenville, ME, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ.
Edythe was born in Paterson, NJ, on April 25, 1931, to Nelson and Edythe (Saal) Peterson. Edythe attended the Lacordaire Academy in Montclair, NJ and later graduated from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA.
She raised three children in Spring Lake, NJ, spending many happy years in the same town as her parents and her twin sister’s family. She was an active parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church.
She moved to Hamden, CT in 1972, then later relocated to Greenville, ME on Moosehead Lake where she happily spent many decades. She moved back to New Jersey in 2017 where she resided at Brandywine Senior Living in Wall for the last several years.
Edythe leaves behind her daughter, Edythe Curran, of Hamden, CT, and her son Christopher (Diane) Towle of Scarsdale, NY. She was predeceased by her oldest son, Nelson Towle, and two spouses, Henry Towle and Warren Buchter. She leaves behind many beloved relatives, including her twin sister, Anne Williams; four loving grandchildren (Paul Curran, Christine Curran (Arend van der Velde), Erica Towle (Michael McCormack), and Kevin Towle (Naomi); five great-grandchildren (Julia Curran, Abigail Curran, Caroline Curran, Sofie van der Velde, and Sydney Towle); niece Kathy (Richard Malhame) Williams; nephews Roy (Joette) Williams, Ward (Beth) Williams, and Scott (Mary-Beth) Williams.
Edythe was greatly loved by all for her kind nature, joyful spirit, and great sense of humor.
A private service will be held in Greenville, ME at a future date.
