Allegheny County police are investigating after a shooting in McKees Rocks Thursday afternoon left one person injured and led to a police chase spanning several communities. The shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Bell Avenue. Police said first responders found a woman with shrapnel wounds to her left shin, left hand and left cheek. The victim, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. As Sky 4 flew over the shooting scene in McKees Rocks, it captured video of officers running to their cars and starting to chase two white vehicles.After a few minutes, officers boxed in the cars and surrounded them. The suspects were able to get away, driving through a gap in two police vehicles.”Allegheny County Housing Authority Police, McKees Rocks Police and Stowe Township Police attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle fled the attempted stop, nearly striking a police officer. Two officers discharged their weapons at the vehicle,” county police said in a statement.At one point, a white car swerved onto Pine Hollow Road at a high speed, nearly missing a van, then went behind trees.The car turned right on Broadway Avenue, then turned left into a parking lot before driving back on Pine Hollow Road.During the incident, Robinson Township police tried to deploy a spike strip in front of the vehicle, according to the statement from county police.”The fleeing vehicle nearly struck the Robinson police officer. The Robinson officer discharged their firearm one time at the vehicle,” the statement said.The police chase finally came to an end on North Petrie Road, where an ambulance was on scene. “Two males were apprehended in the woods a short time later,” county police said in the statement. “The driver was identified as Steven Bryant Jr., 28, of Pasadena, Maryland, and the passenger was identified as Gaj Walker, 32, of Pittsburgh. Bryant had a gunshot wound to his arm and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Walker was placed under arrest.”Police did not say whether Bryant was shot by officers or someone else.”The investigation is ongoing and detectives are in consultation with the District Attorney’s office for a charging decision,” police said.Investigators were asking anyone with information about the incident to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS (833-255-8477). Anonymous calls will be accepted.
