Frank J. Culley, Jr., age 86 of Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on May 31, 2023, at Sunnyside Manor at Wall. Frank was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and raised in Bound Brook, attending St Joseph’s Grammar School and St Peter’s High School in New Brunswick. He graduated from St. Peter’s College in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and later earned a master’s degree in labor relations from Seton Hall University. After college he proudly served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army upon completion of Officer Candidate School.
In 1974, Frank became Vice President of Human Resources at Ethicon, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, and served as a member of its Board of Directors. Throughout his 25-year career at Ethicon, Frank was an acknowledged leader in the development of functional excellence in human resources. Many of the programs that he helped develop served as a model for the Corporation. He was also on the Board of Directors of Ethicon Employees Federal Credit Union, which later became Financial Resources Federal Credit Union. Despite the tremendous change that took place over the course of Frank’s career, he always maintained a focus on the individual to ensure that all employees were treated with dignity and respect.
Frank enjoyed golf throughout his life and was a member of The Manasquan River Golf Club for many years. He loved the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and never missed a football game. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at the shore and many family ski trips to Vermont.
He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Kathryn Culley and brother John Culley.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen Nulty Culley, children, Brian Culley and wife Yvonne, Lynn Considine and Kevin Culley and wife Anna, sister Kathryn Hayward, and grandchildren Tyler and wife Kelsey, Ian, Jacqueline, Michael, Patrick, Jack, Ryan, Anthony, and Mary Kate and one great granddaughter Emilia.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 4-8pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ 08724. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 9:30AM at St Denis RC Church, Manasquan, NJ. Burial will follow at St Anne’s Cemetery, Wall, NJ.
