When it comes to home trends, we often think of popular décor items, or room makeovers, but what if the new trend is about care and compassion in a world that is has been less than comfortable the last few years.

Tender Living focuses on creating spaces that are inviting, and peaceful. Grounded in the principles of livability, sustainability, and modern design.
Over the last few years, there has been a stop put on many of our lives. With the extra time, we’ve begun to notice things that need to be cut out. We are asking ourselves, what no longer fits into our home or schedule? What fosters our well-being? We find ourselves cocooned into our living space, wanting comfort and more of a connection to the natural environment.
This connection to nature is called Biophilic design, “a concept used within the building industry to increase occupant connectivity to the natural environment through the use of direct nature, indirect nature, and space and place conditions”. Source
Recently Chip Wade of Wade Works Creative completed the year-long design and build of his ultimate show home, “Pinhoti Peak”, in the North Georgia mountains, that features this design trend.
“The interior of Pinhoti Peak rests in the soothing vibe of today’s Tender Living design trend,” said Wade. “I used warm, natural materials, like wood, ceramics, and stone, to create a cozy atmosphere — and we incorporated lots of soft textures such as pillows, blankets, and rugs to make the space feel comfortable and welcoming.”
You will also notice the wide open views connecting you to the outdoors, especially while living indoors.
“In creating Pinhoti Peak, I wanted to check all of the boxes with the materials I selected: beautiful, sustainable, and virtually maintenance free,” added Wade. “I achieved all three of these objectives with the kitchen and bathroom tiles and countertops selected. I am a big fan of putting high quality products in high wear areas like bathrooms and kitchens. Daltile is a product I return to time and time again.”
Let’s talk about the tile.
Laura Grilli, director of product design for Dal-Tile LLC Said, “The kitchen subliminally brings in a black and white color blocking between countertop and accent tile wall that effectively melds with the adjacent living areas’ shapes and designs of Native American touches. The butler’s pantry intriguingly adds in the modern touch of gold accents while staying true to cultural patterns.”

I realize the view is on the other side of this primary bathroom, but I only have eyes for this shower. Okay maybe I can stand to look at the whole room. I think this space really embodies the Tender Living trend. From the comfort of the space to the connection to nature. The natural materials, the simple palette.
What colors work well with this trend?
“Greys, greens, sage tones, even eggshell textural touches throughout nod to a Biophilic and Scandinavian Minimalism that is undeniably comfortable. We also used porcelain, ceramic, and glass tile throughout the spaces to add a touch of elegance and durability.” Says Wade.
“The look of raw marble in popular triangular shapes in the ADU (accessory dwelling unit-guest house) bathroom is joined by the juxtaposition of matte and glossy finishes for added visual texture in the master bath tiles.” Says Laura.
