The final phase of a new rental community in downtown Rahway has been officially unveiled. Rahway Mayor Raymond Giacobbe joined principals from joint-venture developers Fields Grade and Slokker USA on May 11 for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome the second luxury building at the Mint.
The celebratory event occurred just two months after the six-story building opened to renters, who have since leased an impressive 70% of the 109 studios, one- and two-bedroom homes in the newest phase. The Marketing Directors is the building’s exclusive marketing and leasing agent.
Ideally situated at 84 Monroe St., the Mint’s second phase features modern residences, exceptional amenities and an ultraconvenient location in the heart of Rahway’s dynamic residential, business, dining and cultural center and just steps from the New Jersey Transit Rahway Junction Station. The new building joins an initial phase of 116 homes at 81 Monroe St. to complete the overall community.
“We are very excited to welcome the Mint to Rahway to provide current and future Rahway residents with a modern, residential living space in our community while highlighting the continued economic growth and development of our great city,” Giacobbe said.
“We’d like to thank Mayor Giacobbe, members of the Rahway Redevelopment Agency and other municipal officials for joining us today to mark this milestone occasion,” Nils Berten, vice president, USA, of Slokker USA said. “Their foresight and vision made possible the transformation of an underutilized parking lot and retail storefronts into a signature residential community that has greatly enhanced the downtown streetscape.”
“The Mint is a shining example of how a municipality and developer working hand-in-hand can responsibly deliver a building that improves the community-at-large by adding quality homes and supportive retail,” Robert Giannone, director of development for Fields Grade, said. “We’re incredibly excited to officially open the doors on the second rental building, which is quickly filling up with residents eager to enjoy the vibrant downtown Rahway lifestyle.”
Designed by renowned architect Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, with interiors collaboratively designed by Minno & Wasko and Factioned, the Mint offers a collection of spacious and airy residences featuring luxury plank flooring, 9-foot ceiling heights, windows with complimentary treatments, and in-home washer and dryer. Kitchens come equipped with soft-close cabinetry, quartz countertops and a stainless-steel appliance package; lavish bathrooms feature full-height tiled walls in baths. A limited number of two-bedroom homes offer a bonus den, while select apartments feature private balconies and rooftop terraces.
Homes are priced from $2,100 and are being offered with incentives that include up to two months free. Immediate occupancy is available.
“These open and bright floorplans are a welcoming respite for residents returning home from work or the social scene in downtown Rahway,” Jacqueline Urgo, president of the Marketing Directors, said. “Designer finishes can be found throughout the homes, creating an upscale-but-comfortable living environment.”
The Mint’s newest phase provides a full suite of amenities to residents right outside their door. Social and recreational spaces include a game room with poker room and ping pong and foosball tables and multiple work-from-home areas including coworking spaces, conference room, work pods and a library. A sixth-floor Sky Lounge offers a bar with seating, large-screen TVs and a pool table, all leading to an outdoor rooftop terrace with lounge chairs, barbecue stations and attention-grabbing vistas that reach as far as New York City.
In addition, residents have access to an abundance of shared amenities within the first building, including a lounge with a billiards table and work cubes, fully-equipped fitness center with yoga room and FitnessOnDemand, and a pet spa. A second-floor landscaped deck features a swimming pool, barbecue and dining areas, and a fire pit with lounge seating. There’s also private garage parking with electric charging stations and supportive retail space.
In addition to the in-town train station, Rahway is served by U.S. Routes 1/9 and 27, and is located in between the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike.
