First responders worked to repairs after a water main break closed down part of a road in Shaler Township Wednesday evening.Shaler police said the break happened on the lower section of Soose Road near Parker Street and Seavey Road. This section of the road will remain closed as repairs are made. Vehicles can detour south on Soose Road and turn left onto Old Seavey Road to access Seavey Road and Davis Avenue. Lt. David Benko tells Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that there was no major flooding from this break. Some water had accumulated in residential basements. Benko says homes could be without water until Thursday. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 did see crews from Hampton Shaler Water Authority turning valves back on, but the process for water to return to homes and businesses will be slow.The water authority says residents can experience low water pressure as crews continue to repair the break. They say any discolored water is safe to drink except for those experiencing medical issues. The authority recommends bottled water in that case.
