My book-loving teenage girl really needed a reading spot, and I found the most perfect cozy chair for this little corner of her bedroom.
I mean, this faux Sherpa chair feels like a warm hug! It’s so soft and comfy!
With sherpa furniture being somewhat trendy I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a chair, but I knew this was the look she’d want for her room. My girl loves a mix of styles, a lot like her momma in that sense. ? She likes modern so long as it leans cozy, and she’ll embrace classic, traditional elements when there’s a whimsical twist.
With her room already boasting so much color and pattern, I thought a solid warm white chair would be a nice place for the eye to rest. But plain white doesn’t have to be boring. The soft, subtle texture of the Sherpa upholstery adds so much to the space! Would you believe it’s from Walmart?! I found the chair, the floor lamp, the velvet throw blanket, and the planter basket all at Walmart! The chair came with wood-tone metal legs, but I spray-painted them gold to glam it up just a bit. And it worked like a charm.
I love that the rattan lampshade picks up on the wood tone of the floor, and I totally dig the way the diamond pattern of the planter basket plays with the argyle lampshade.
Mostly, I love that my girl loves her new bedroom reading spot!
I can hardly believe in just a few weeks she’ll be finishing up her junior year, and my baby will be a senior! We moved into this house during the fall semester of 8th grade, and it has been so much fun working with her to make her bedroom her happy place. Rather than rushing toward the “finish line”, we’ve taken our time bringing her space to life. And there are still a few more little tweaks to come.
We’re toying with the idea of a blush-pink ceiling, and she’s really hoping for a crystal chandelier.
And I’m still thinking about what I want to do regarding window treatments…..roman shades?…..or maybe cafe curtains?
All I know for sure is I want her last year of living at home to feel magical!
