David Eugene Otterberg passed away on April 29, 2023 surrounded by his wife and children. David was born in Neptune, NJ on April 18, 1956 to Edwin and Dorothy Otterberg and grew up in Spring Lake Heights, NJ. He graduated from Manasquan High School in 1974, where he developed his lifelong passion for basketball, and he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Stockton University. David worked at J.P. Morgan Chase for 35 years before he retired.
Together with the love of his life, Pam Otterberg, he raised two children, Amanda Moras and Andrew Otterberg, and enjoyed thousands of joyful memories with their grandchildren, Hadley, Cameron, and Sadie. He surrounded them all with unconditional love and they will cherish the memories he made with them.
David had a deep love of sports especially basketball, and particularly loved the Shore Conference as they are the best high school basketball conference in the nation. He was also a devoted fan of the New York Mets and the New York Jets. His favorite days were spent at a field watching his children, and later his grandchildren, play the sports they loved.
In addition to his wife Pam, children Amanda (Beth) and Andrew, grandchildren Hadley, Cameron and Sadie, David is survived by his sister Karen Kahn, brothers Peter (Pat) Otterberg and Robert (Claudia) Otterberg, sisters-in-law Peg Otterberg and Dawn (Tom) Keegan, brother-in-law Bruce Herrmann, nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces. David was predeceased by his parents and his brother, James Otterberg.
David moved to Connecticut in 2021 to be close to his grandchildren, but the Jersey Shore was always his home. He will be forever remembered as a generous man who cherished his family. Most notably, his grandchildren would like to share that he is the best Grandpa in the entire world.
David’s family is forever grateful to the many doctors and nurses who cared for him for their kindness during his prolonged illness.
