On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, Kelsey Marie Downey, age 29, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family.
Kelsey was born on August 6, 1993 in Neptune, NJ to Matthew and Stephanie Downey. Along with her parents, she leaves behind her siblings, Matthew and Elliot, and many aunts, uncles, cousins. After graduating from Wall High School in Wall, NJ, she received her Culinary Nutrition degree summa cum laude from Johnson & Wales and completed her Dietetic Internship at Tulane University. She enjoyed teaching medical students how to apply nutrition science learnings in cooking applications and interning at The Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine at Tulane. Pursuing her ambitions, she worked as a Clinical Nutritionist, most recently at NY Presbyterian Columbia Hospital and as Vegetarian Nutrition DPG State Coordinator. Achievements include the VN Cyndi Reeser Outstanding State Coordinator of the Year and NYP Dietitian of the Year Awards.
Kelsey was always motivated by her love for family, friends and everyone around her. She was full of laughter with a positive spirit and determination, and she had grit. She loved traveling, NYC, Broadway shows, dancing, piano, spending time with friends and family, reading, and baking culinary delights. She believed that everyone should have access to credible nutrition resources. Visitation will be on Sunday, 4-8pm at Reilly Bonner Funeral Home,801 D Street, Belmar, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at Holy Innocents Church in Neptune, NJ.
