NARBERTH – Narberth officials say one person was found dead while firefighters were battling a house fire on Hampden Avenue in Narberth Thursday morning.
Crews from Narberth and Lower Merion fire companies were called to the home at 203 Hampden Ave. at 3:30 a.m. on the report of a fire coming from the home’s second floor.
Arriving first responders quickly went to work on controlling the fire and extinguished the flames.
While battling the fire, they found an unidentified victim dead. The Montgomery County Corner’s Office will confirm the person’s identity and cause of death.
“We are devastated by the tragic loss of life and are working with our public safety partners to investigate the cause of the fire,” Narberth Police Chief John String said in a press release.
According to String, the Narberth Fire Marshall, Lower Merion Fire Marshall’s office, and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall are investigating.
