The American Heart Association has awarded five New Jersey-based companies plus the city of Vineland for their commitment to employee health and well-being as measured in the association’s 2022 Workforce Well-Being Scorecard.
The scorecard evaluates factors such as mental health policies, organizational wellbeing strategies to address burnout, health equity measures, employee financial resources, and more to provide a comprehensive assessment of an organization’s culture of health.
Merck received the highest honor, platinum, followed by Gold honorees (Quest, Sanofi) and Bronze winners (Delta Dental, City of Vineland, Wyndham).
The American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, developed the Workforce Well-being Scorecard in collaboration with top scientists and industry experts to reflect the latest evidence-based science on workforce health and wellbeing.
First launched in 2016, the Scorecard was refreshed in 2022 to place a renewed focus on health equity and comprehensive organizational well-being. The free, web-based tool allows employers to regularly evaluate their health and well-being progress, identify areas of opportunity, and see how their results stack up against their peers.
Dennis Wilson, CEO and President of Delta Dental of New Jersey & Connecticut, said the honor matches the company’s vision and mission for its employees.
“Prioritizing our associates’ health and wellness is ingrained in our company culture,” he said. “We are honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association for our commitment to employee health and well-being along with our continued efforts to promote health equity in and out of the workplace.”
Delta Dental of New Jersey regularly provides its more than 250 associates with health-related programs to improve their health and well-being. Delta Dental of New Jersey has been honored with either a gold or silver award the past three years.
In 2022, Delta Dental of New Jersey, as part of its wellness program, conducted 186 virtual exercise sessions, provided onsite blood pressure screenings with 50% participation, had 14 associates get CPR certified with AED training, hosted five lunch and learns, distributed monthly wellness e-newsletters highlighting health education topics, and more!
