The reality star and real estate agent had been trying to conceive a baby with French husband Romain Bonnet but sadly experienced a septic miscarriage and has shared her experience to support others
Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald has revealed she has experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage – but says she will continue her fertility journey and remains hopeful she will conceive.
The 42-year-old Netflix show reality star is married to 29-year-old French model Romain Bonnet and has been sharing her fertility journey with fans.
However, the star gave a heartbreaking update on Friday when she took to social media to explain that she had suffered a ‘septic miscarriage’.
In the emotional video update, Mary explained that she wanted to remain an open book to her followers and to offer support to others who have endured similar heartache.
Taking to Instagram in a video post, Mary said: “Hey guys, so um, I promised everybody a while back, about a year ago, that I would take you along on my fertility journey and I know I’ve been very silent about it.”
Tearing up, she said: “I’m going to try to do this without crying.”
She went on to explain: “So, we did get pregnant. We were in Bali. We did get pregnant and unfortunately that didn’t work out. And on top of the miscarriage, I also had what they call a septic miscarriage.”
A septic miscarriage is a medical term used when a woman has suffered a miscarriage and then developed an infection in the uterus.
Mary continued: “The reason I am speaking up now is because I do realise how common this is and how many people go through this. And it is not easy.
“I needed a minute because there are so many eyes on me and it has been rough to say the least.”
Fighting back tears, she went on: “But, there is still hope. And I wanted to share my journey because I’m going to continue to share it .
“I am going to continue to share it and we are going to have very good news very soon.”
She added: “If any of you guys are also going through it, please know that you are not alone and we’re going to get there.”
An accompanying caption to the video stated: “It’s not always sunshine and butterflies, and that is ok.
“I wanted to share this in the hopes of letting others know they are not alone. I promised I would be truthful and keep you guys updated.
“I have been asked some questions, and finally found it within me to address this. We won’t be giving up… and if this message speaks to you in any way or you are feeling down, helpless, alone… please know we are in this together. Hang in there…”
Mary’s post was met with a wall of support – with her boss and fellow Selling Sunset star Brett Oppenheim responding to write: “We will always be here to support you and Romain, through anything. Love you.”
And former co-star Maya Vander wrote: “Sending love!! sorry you had to experience it.”
