A brand-new barbecue restaurant has arrived in Jersey City. Boots & Bones offers American-style meals with Southern influences. The menu features sandwiches with several kinds of smoked meats, such as the Smoked Brisket on Brioche, topped with provolone, crispy onions and pickles. Appetizers include Oysters on Half Shell, PEI Mussels and Gulf Shrimp Cocktail. There are also several vegetarian and vegan options, including a gazpacho salad. Boots & Bones is currently operating with a limited menu; the full menu is slated to be available in April. While you’re visiting, also check out Under The Boot—a not-so-secret social club downstairs.

This is not your grandpa’s breakfast place, declares the website of Effin’ Egg, Morristown’s new breakfast joint, slated to open on March 30. Expect classic breakfast sandwiches with a twist—like the CEO, featuring scrambled eggs, cheddar, caramelized onions, chives and a signature chipotle Effy Sauce on a warm brioche bun. Craving other breakfast staples? Choose from a variety of pancakes, waffles, breakfast tacos and burritos.

The salad chain opened its fourth New Jersey location in Montclair last week. The menu features several bowls and salads, such as the Kale Caesar—a mixture of kale and romaine topped with roasted chicken, tomatoes and Parmesan crisps. Seasonal items include the Miso Bowl, packed with blackened chicken, root vegetables, wild rice and a Miso Sesame Ginger dressing. Side dishes and kid-friendly items are available, too.
