Every two years, designers and home décor enthusiasts from New Jersey and New York make their pilgrimage to the Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens. This year, the big event happens at the Three Fields country residence in the heart of bucolic Mendham.
Set on 36 acres of rolling hills, the 9,000-square-foot, stone, très-chic French manor-style home was designed by New York architect Greville Rickard and completed in 1930. Visitors will notice romantic architectural elements such as a steeply pitched tile roof and French doors that open to the formal gardens, ponds and fields.
The Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center’s elaborate fundraising event, which celebrates architectural history and daring design, will benefit the expansion and modernization of Morristown Medical Center’s Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation. This year’s mansion involves 29 interior designers, 14 landscape designers and more than 1,000 volunteers contributing 15,000 hours.
Three Fields is open to the public daily from May 1 to May 31.

On-site parking is not available, but free off-site parking and shuttle service are included in the ticket price.
“Mansion in May always attracts prestigious designers, and this year is no exception,” says Alexandra Elliott, Mansion in May design co-chair. Adds Lisa Overley, design co-chair: “We received an impressive number of proposals from a multitude of well-known design firms in the New Jersey/New York area and their creativity, vision and inventiveness was outstanding.”
