We’re a sucker for free shows.
The Jersey-bred Jonas Brothers are set to kick off the Today show’s free Citi Concert Series on May 12, the same day their hotly anticipated sixth record, The Album, is released. The outdoor series takes place at Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan.
“You don’t want to miss it,” Joe Jonas said on Thursday’s episode of the NBC morning show, announcing the concert while sitting alongside his brother-bandmates Kevin and Nick Jonas.
News of the show comes as Kevin, 35, Joe, 33, and Nick, 30, are wrapping up a five-night Broadway residency at the Marquis Theatre. Each night featured a different album from the Grammy-nominated group’s discography—and tickets were tough to score. The residency concludes Saturday with a debut performance of The Album.
Though the guys—who formed the band in 2005, broke up in 2013 and reunited in 2019—grew up in Wyckoff, Kevin is the only brother who still lives in New Jersey. He and his wife, Danielle Jonas, are raising their two daughters in Denville, near Danielle’s parents and some of her childhood friends.
“We are true Jersey, through and through,” Kevin told New Jersey Monthly in an interview last year.
Kevin is grateful New Jersey can serve as a home base for Danielle and the kids while the band tours, telling us: “It’s been a blessing—really nice for us to have a safe place here and a community around us.”
Although Nick and Joe now live on the West Coast, they do get a taste of Jersey when they’re back visiting their home state—if Kevin and Danielle have anything to do with it. “We still bring the Taylor ham to them,” Danielle told us of the guys’ visits. “Or the meatballs.”
